Let me back up a second…the picture gives away the punchline, but I want you to get the whole story…
As you know, the life blood of HuggaBuddies is family and traditions and my mom’s birthday traditions are THE BEST.
Especially if she is physically present for a birthday!
The kids in our family get super excited for their birthdays, because they know that they are going to get a treasure hunt from Grandma.
Usually the treasure hunt has clues and the kids run from spot to spot collecting little goodies and presents from Grandma.
Over time it has turned into money and treats and there isn’t one kid complaining about that!
As the kids get older, the treasure hunts have morphed into a few other things – riddles, workout challenges etc.
For my 14-year-old’s bday last week, it was a workout challenge and so all of his goodies from grandma were in one bag for him to open at the end of the different challenges…
Don’t worry, I beat him in the headstand challenge!
…then…the very first thing that Channing pulled out of the bag was a bunch of bananas still in their produce bag. The look on his face was the best.
I gave my mom some ideas of his favorite treats, but…for this boy who is opposed to most sugar and junk food, she thought bananas would be a win!
And, Oh. It. Was.
These traditions that my mom has created over the years have been the source of so many great memories and all of that passion for family time and connection has been poured into what we do at HuggaBuddies.
