It’s birthday season here…

It’s birthday season here…

It’s birthday season here…

You’ve had a birthday

…shout hooray!

Turning 8 around here is a big deal and this time it just happened to come with a custom baptism HuggaBuddie and a baptism Minkie from Grandma!

And I just need to know…

Which of you baptism-celebrating families want one?!

Mom does not stop creating and I just wanted to show off how incredibly talented she is behind-the-scenes.

But also, let’s talk about birthdays!

I’m excited to share my traditions, but really, I want to know yours!

Reply to this email, comment on this blog, or comment on this instagram post and let us know what your family does to celebrate special moments.

Now, this is how it goes in our big blended family:

FIRST, our kids get to choose whether they want a birthday party with friends (we always celebrate with family!) or presents…

There’s just no room in the budget for both!

The night before their birthday, Steve and I stay up way too late wrapping presents (because inevitably that’s what everyone chooses), hiding a treasure hunt (from Grandma of course!), hanging streamers from their door frame and filling their room with balloons.

The birthday kid gets to choose breakfast and dinner and what time during the day they open their presents.

I bet you can’t guess when that is!

Depending on the day of the week, we let the birthday kid decide what we’re doing.

For one birthday we invited a few families to play kickball at the park with us.

For this birthday, we invited our favorite neighbors over for cookies and cornhole in the front yard.

Just this year, Steve and I started sneaking the birthday kid out for lunch with just the two of us and it has been so much fun to give them that individual attention.

Lastly, the birthday cake. For awhile our kids have been obsessed with THIS ice cream sandwich birthday cake. It’s fun because you can change it up by using each kids’ favorite candy!

Last, last, the birthday kid gets the honor of popping all the balloons in their room.

Now…let’s circle back to the presents…our kids STRONGLY recommend that you get a little somethin’ somethin’ from HERE to make all your kid’s birthday dreams come true!

And, if you need a little party favor for your party…then you might need this dino candy pocket. Download it HERE.
